Using CBD as a Treatment for Acne

It wasn’t until recently that science began taking note of the seemingly magical benefits of consuming CBD. CBD, or Cannabidiol, is the second most prevalent compound found in cannabis behind only THC. Unlike THC, it has no psychoactive effects, and the possession and consumption of CBD is legal in all 50 states. CBD has been found to benefit many conditions, such as cancer, epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, and much more. Among CBD’s uses is that it has great anti-inflammatory effects. When skin cells come in contact with CBD, ion channels open and permit the influx of calcium to the cells which, in turn, inhibits lipid synthesis. In other words, CBD prevents skin cells from inflaming and producing acne. This effect was first noted at the University of Debrecen (Hungary) in 2009, and hasn’t received much spotlight here in the U.S. until recent months.

A study published recently in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and the National Institute of Health has found that the compound cannabidiol (CBD) may provide an effective treatment for acne. The study concludes; “Collectively, our findings suggest that, due to the combined lipostatic, anti-proliferative, and anti-inflammatory effects, CBD has potential as a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of acne vulgaris.”

At Green Tree, each 2 ounce bottle of our all natural face wash contains 25mg’s of CBD. We use a rather large amount to ensure the skin is in constant contact with plenty of CBD’s to ensure the healing of damaged skin and the prevention of further inflammation. We combine this with other organic ingredients and the outcome is quite spectacular. Instead of further damaging the skin with harmful synthetic chemicals found in almost all commercial face washes, we use the power of nature to help restore a healthy balance back to the skin. It’s a difference you can see within days of using the wash.
